HISTORY
Established in 1980, Casa Abril was one of three Portuguese restaurants in the heart of Kensington Market. During that time Casa Abril built a reputation for offering fine Portuguese cuisine surrounded in a friendly atmosphere perfect for social; family and romantic gatherings. As our popularity grew the demand for space became evident. Therefore, in February 1998, Casa Abril found a new home at 475 Oakwood Avenue fully equipped with a banquet hall; a private room for smaller functions; a spacious dining room and ample parking for its clientele. To go along with a new home also came a new name "New Casa Abril", and with that, the restaurant was ready to embark on a new journey. To date, it is known not only for upholding the traditions of Portuguese cuisine but also for the fact that it is the longest running Portuguese restaurant in the community still under the same management.
CUISINE
Our menu offers a selection of traditional Portuguese dishes including fresh saltwater fish and seafood from around the world; classic vintage ports from the early 20th century and the finest wines imported directly from Western Europe. Our delicious homemade desserts are a perfect end to any meal and can be enjoyed while being serenaded by our live entertainment.
FUNCTIONS
Our spacious facilities can accommodate large groups for up to 220 people in the upper banquet hall that is spacious and bright complete with juliet balconies that are ideal for weddings, baptisms, communions or corporate events. A large dance floor encourages the celebratory mood as our team caters to each of your guests throughout the entire celebration. The lower hall is warm and inviting with the capacity to accommodate intimate gatherings for up to 70 people.
We are complete with parking which allows you and your guests to enjoy the exceptional service and distinctive ambience in a private and comfortable atmosphere. At your special event guests can enjoy fine food and attentive service. We offer a variety of dining and catering options to meet every need and our tasty menus and great service have kept our customers happy for over 40 years.
